Allergy Therapy
Topical therapy:
Many patients will respond to over the counter therapy targeted at the nose and sinuses such as saline irrigations, sodium cromolyn, or prescription nebulizations. Often a single history and physical examination in the office can help direct the treatment that will be most effective.
Systemic therapy:
Some patients require prescription medication for control of their allergies. With proper guidance your physician can help you choose between antihistamines, decongestants, leukotriene regulators, or another options that will best suit your specific needs.
Desensitization therapy:
If it is concluded that you can benefit from immunotherapy, you will start a long-term, personalized program designed to decrease your reaction to the inhalants that are causing your allergies. MB,PC provides subcutaneous (injections) and sublingual (drops) immunotherapy.
The goal is to make our patients symptom free and medicine free by blocking the body's normal allergy reaction to molds, dusts, grasses, pollen, and other problem causes of your allergy.
It may be necessary to test for foods at a later date. However, most nasal allergies are due to inhalants (pollen, cat dander, ragweed...), and control of the inhalants usually gives good relief of symptoms.
